Whilst at the JAM Factory hamish was able to partake in numerous masterclasses with different artists and also received the opportunity to go over to Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle USA.
Since then Hamish has been back working from the family studio in Red Hill, Victoria.
Hamish has been making work that speaks to the sacred, inner and unseen. Inspired by the interconnected dance of the natural world and the way humans have connected with it. at times using geometric patterns and symbols as carriers of hidden wisdom that underlie our reality.
About Hamish
Hamish comes from a lineage of Glass artists, representing the 3rd generation, with its inception beginning with his matriarchal grandparents studying glass engraving at Edinburgh college of the arts in Scotland. With his mother then pursuing glassblowing and marrying an Australian farmer before he also converted to becoming a glass artist.
Hamish grew up in and around the glass studio, making paperweights for pocket money before finishing school and completing a carpentry apprenticeship. then heading off to travel South America for a year. gaining great insights and inspiration to return and begin the journey to learn the familys craft, not knowing where it might lead. Hamish then travelled to participate in some masterclasses, taking him to the Canberra Glass Works and to The Glass Furnace in Turkey. Then in 2018 Hamish was accepted into the JAM Factory associate program where he trained for 2 years.
